What’s In a Name
The choice of Felice as a name is a little unusual, but we hope that you like how it sounds. Naturally we also hope that she will grow up loving her name.
Felice has latin roots, meaning happy, ecstatic, fortunate or lucky.
Felice was used in Britain until the early 19th century, when it was replaced by Felicia (fem. of Felix – latin for lucky or happy). Felicia was then supplanted by Felicity.
Felice’s middle name is Lydia, named after Felice’s maternal great-grandmother. Lydia had a lot to do with Julia when she was growing up. Lydia is now quite elderly and living in The Ukraine. We aren’t quite sure if she comprehends that Felice was named after her.
Lydia was Paul’s first convert at Philippi and it also an Iron Age kingdom of western Asia Minor, located in modern day Turkey.
